Even though the PLWHA were still healthy, they were rejected by their families and communities. The goal is to create a self-supporting community of people living with HIV/AIDS. The people who make these product value their own work. They have all passed through the PCU ( Palliative Care Unit ) at the Camillian Social Center Rayong and become fit enough to return to a light working life. As they in many cases still have no place in their local community Farther Giovanni offers them a place at the Garden of Eden where they can live rent free but have to work in order to regain a standing in Thai society. Over the years since it was opened in 2003 it has been very successful allowing many of the people to get work outside and fully return to the society.
