On the 11th of June 2011 we welcomed a group of Irish Volunteers from the LYIT Gaisce Society headed by Florence Blake.

This year they arrived very early on the Saturday morning and they were eager to the start work that they had come all this way to carry out.

The work entailed painting the inside and out of our accommodation, semi-detached bungalows.

On the first day they were joined by a group of Volunteers form East Water who’s offices are very close to our main site in Huae Pong. East Water provided working T shirts for all on the day. It was a little chaotic this day with so many people determined to do their part in putting these building back in good order. Also the weather was not really on our side with light rain all day. However despite all this everyone seamed to enjoy the work.

Thereafter the Irish group where left to complete the work and settled in to allocated tasks for all, which greatly increased efficiency over all. The Irish group also brought with them brand new wheelchairs that will help are patents no end.

Over the 11 day period it was not all work as they treated our patents and the children of the Garden of Eden to a day at the beach. The weather was kind to us this day, it was slightly over case but that kept the worst of the heat at bay. There where certainly many white legs that where determined to sock up a little of the famous Thai sunshine. All enjoyed the day particularly the children who do not get to the beach that often.
