Camel Summer Charity Classic, 2013.

Great support sees another record amount raised for the St.Camillus Foundation. 

Saturday, 13 July 2013 – Emerald Golf Course, Banchang. 

For the annual Camel Summer Charity Classic the weather was fine for golf. 204 golfers played in support of this most worthy of causes, for the St. Camillus Foundation which run the Camillian Social Center, just out of Banchang, in Rayong. This summer’s tournament raised a record total of 1,061,735.00 Baht, for the Camillians. The Camel Annual Charity Classic tournaments, since inception, have now raised over 8 million baht for the St Camillus Foundation. 

Golfers from all over teed off from 06:00am through 1.15pm. A very special thanks to our registration folks, Thommo & Kh Tan, Goy, Mint and Leo taking care of wardrobe. Also, the organizers recognize the great support received and extend our warm gratitude to the management, staff and caddies from Emerald for turning the course and facilities out so very well. 

A Texas Scramble was the format and the Tournament had strategically placed suitable refreshments around the course to keep golfers strong and focused. After the game golfers and their families made their way, by 5:30pm, to The Camel Pub, Banchang’s largest and finest pub/ restaurant. There, The Camel had prepared a pig on the spit and a sumptuous buffet. 

Prize giving and presentations to the successful golfers started at 7pm. Excellent hosting was done by MC, John Chapman with able support from Rod. Many kind donations were made by some very generous folks and the organizers extend their thanks. 

The tournament champions for the Camel Summer Classic, 2013 are the Jim Ryan Team of Jim Ryan, Phillipe Martin, Mick Cunnane and Damian Francombe, with a net score of 54.4. The Runners Up (again) are the CR Asia Team of Glenn Ebert, Graham Hardie, Pete Cheshire and Craig Blacklock with a net score of 54.5. Congratulations to 2013 Summer Champions and Runners Up. 

For the ten technical prizes this year, the winners were: Long Putt on hole 3; Lance Hudson, Near Pin on hole 5; Kh Kamol, Near Pin on hole 7; Kh Bhumsit A, Near Pin in two on hole 8; Kh Kamol, Ladies Long Drive on hole 9; Kh Phakjira K, Near pin in two on hole 12; Team Torgusson, Near Pin on hole 13; Greg Soloman, Long Putt on Hole 14; Hannafiah M, Near Pin on hole 15, Russell White and Mens Long Drive on Hole 18; Indochine Team 1. Congratulations to the technical prize winners.

Donation day the 27th of July 2013

Yet another record for this event was the speed between the end of the event on the 13th of July to the day of the donation of 1.061,735THB on the 27th of July, it’s self a record.  

Great Thanks to Terry and Rod for all the hard work in organizing yet another wonder event.

Also man, many thanks to all who took part in the even and we hope to see you all again next year.
