This event was in reaction to an Appeal Launched by The Camillian Social Center Rayong about JOM one of our Very Sick Children. Please see the following link for details. http://www.hiv-aids-kids.org/event/JOM-SICK.html
It was hosted by The Sapphire Club A GO GO in Soi 15 Walking Street Pattaya. The Sapphire Club is part of the Pattaya Addicts Group. http://www.pattaya-addicts.com/ the route was from The Sapphire Club A GO GO in Soi 15 Walking Street to the North end of Pattaya Beach Road near the Thai Air Ways Office and back.
The Pattaya Hero’s who completed the 25 Kilometers or more in the Blazing Sun where in no particular order of merit Richard Sullivan (Sully), Adam Judd (A.J.), Andy Socrates, Mark Rob Stocker, Paul Paterson & his first wife Elaine, Phil Egg and last but certainly not least Niall O’Brien. Even some of the young ladies who work in the club took part in 1 lap approximately 6 kilometers.
The walk began just after 6:00am at first light, relatively cool at that time at 27ºC so they set off at a brisk pace wanting to be finished before the Sun reached its zenith at midday and beyond.
At 8:00am, it was quite pleasant with a slight on shore breeze developing but by 9:00am, the Sun was Blazing in a clear blue sky with mere wisps of cloud. Most of them had hoped for rain or at least for it to be overcast. Of the group Elaine managed 12 kilometers all the other Hero’s completed their 25 Kilometers and Paul Patterson had, had enough at 31 Kilometers, he had been trying for 50 or more but on this day the blazing sun got the better of him. I was there taking photo’s of the event and I can tell you that in my opinion 19 year old US Marne's would have found the conditions challenging.
One of the local TV News groups turned up to interview the lads, here is the link: http://youtu.be/77aIa5nr0RE.
On Sunday the 31st of August 2014 The Pattaya Hero’s visited The Camillian Social Center Rayong to make their donation to JOMS FUND.
They had all managed to collect their pledges in record time from their very generous sponsors. The Night Wish Bar Group Soi 6 Pattaya made a donation of 65,000 Thai Baht and the Sapphire Club Group managed to collect 214,180 Thai Baht. On the previous day Paul Patterson had deposited 150,000 Thai Baht.
So right now JOMS FUND stands at 641,264 Thai Baht, with more pledges to come that have not yet been received. All of our children receive medical treatment under the Thai Medical System, this fund will be kept aside for any child in future that needs medical treatment that doesn’t fall under the system.
So Great Thanks from all of us here to all who contributed to this appeal.
